Adventures In Norman
Tuesday, April 28, 2009
On Saturday I also went to the outdoor Norman Music Festival down in Norman, Oklahoma. The headliners were the Starlight Mints and Of Montreal.
While waiting for the main show we went around downtown and enjoyed some of the local shops including a sweet music store that dishes up fantastic underground bands.
Afterwords we went to a small cafe called Fancy That. I got a delicious ham panini, while my boyfriend got an incredible strawberry and blue cheese salad and a side of hummus. The wait was very long but the food was worth it. I was going to take a picture of our food but we were so hungry that I didn't get the chance.
I don't have any pictures of the actual concert performance because not only am I short in a crowd of hundreds, the camera can't take very good night time pictures. So here's a picture of the record shop and two of my friends at Fancy That.

Art Festival
Sunday, April 26, 2009
On Saturday I went to Oklahoma City's annual Festival of the Arts downtown. There are lots of local artists selling beautiful original art (and prints!) as well as fabulous food and music.
I believe it is a juried show. All of the artwork I saw were beautifully made, while some were not my taste it was hard to deny that the pieces were beautiful and incredibly well done.
I had a fancy fish taco and a strawberries newport for lunch, both of which were delicious. Yum.
If you're ever in OKC in April, you should definitely stop by the art festival sometime.

Mangoes Are Delicious
Friday, April 24, 2009
I love the mango cream ice that they serve at my university's on-campus Starbucks. I'm not sure if it's a campus specialty because I haven't heard of it elsewhere.
Does your Starbucks serve this? Maybe it's just mine? Well, Mango Cream Ice is a mango flavored ice slush that has a little bit of cream in it.
If not, I feel bad for you...really I do. Because they are awesome!
Picture below to show you that it exists!

Kitty Meow
Thursday, April 23, 2009
I went to a friend's house the other day and hung out in his neato gazebo. I also played with his two awesome cats. His third cat had died recently. He currently has one female (CC) and one male (Andy).
CC doesn't like other cats and will hiss at Andy when he wants to play with her. However she likes hoomins.
Andy is pretty shy but he warms up quickly. He likes being scratched under his chin.
Below is a picture of CC, the gazebo, and my friend's house respectively.

A Childhood Game
Wednesday, April 22, 2009
Lagoon. The video game for the Super Nintendo. Hardly anyone knows about it's existence, but believe me its real. It has been the bane of my childhood gaming. Why? Because, my friend, it was hard. I don't even remember if I beat it or not, which provides a hint on it's difficulty. Although at this point in time I think I did beat it...once.
So what do I do? What's natural of course, I have my boyfriend try and beat it. It was amusing to see the veins of frustration pulsating in his neck. The game itself is not difficult, however the style of battle is what makes it difficult.
To complete the game you must win 4 boss battles consecutively. It sounds pretty easy considering you get a health and magic refill at the end of each battle, but its not.
Let's say we had to try and try and try (and take a nap) and try again, but finally he did it. He beat Lagoon. You should have been there to see the reaction. If I didn't know any better, I'd say he had just won the lottery just by his excitement.
If I had a video camera, I'd show you the ridiculous/awesomeness of this video game. Unfortunately I do not.

I Love Soda
Tuesday, April 21, 2009
I went to a popular soda shop in Arcadia, Oklahoma called Pop's. Its a combination soda shop, gas station, and restaurant. The soda side has a lot of different brands of sodas arranged by type (eg, orange, root beer, lemon-lime, etc) while the restaurant side served American foods such as hamburgers.
There were so many brands I had never of, many were what seemed to be North American, South American, and possibly European brands, not very many from Asia. It was my first time being there and to be quite honest I expected more brands. However I'm still satisfied with their current selection.
They have a section for "gross" sodas which include flavors such as garlic and boogers. It was disgusting yet oddly fascinating.
I'll probably be back again once I have a little extra money to spend.
